AMCs Third Walking Dead Show May Not Have Walking Dead In Its Title
AMC executive David Madden describes the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff as a complete departure from the previous two television series.
Despite the surprise ending to The Walking Dead comic book series, the Image Comics adaptation's future on AMC remains strong, with the main television series returning for its tenth season in October, Fear the Walking Dead recently renewed for a sixth season, and a third untitled series beginning principal photography soon.
AMC President of Programming, Entertainment Networks David Madden revealed that the upcoming spinoff begins filming this Monday but has not yet settled on a final title nor if it will contain the familiar Walking Dead moniker in it. According to Madden, this is due to the new series being a complete departure from the previous two survival horror series.
"The new show is really on its own separate path. It’s a different feel and different tone," explained Madden in an interview with The Wrap. "It won’t look anything like the other two shows.”
Details on the third Walking Dead series are still being kept under wraps but it is expected to follow the first generation of children following the zombie apocalypse as they come of age. Several of the lead roles for the series have already been cast, with principal photography expected to take place in Virginia. No premiere date for the currently untitled series has been announced at this time.
AMC's The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for its 10th season in October.
