The Walking Dead World Beyond 10 Things We Know So Far

With the next Walking Dead spin-off, World Beyond, set to debut in the coming months, fans are clamoring for info regarding the show's development.

The Walking Dead World Beyond 10 Things We Know So Far

The Walking Dead franchise is a big, popular, and growing one. Of course, there are the comic books, which were introduced to the world in 2003. There are web series, books, video games, and soundtracks. Movies have been announced, and there are television shows; The Walking Dead premiered on October 31, 2010, Fear The Walking Dead started on August 23, 2015, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond is coming soon!

Before it does, though, fans need to brush up on their info and get super prepared! Here's everything we know about the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff, World Beyond.

10 It Is A Limited-Series Horror Show

The Walking Dead World Beyond 10 Things We Know So Far

Both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead are described as post-apocalyptic horror television shows, as is The Walking Dead: World Beyond. However, it is also a limited series. This means that it has the potential to be renewed, but it does not have to contain as many episodes as a typical order would. Some past examples of limited series include Under the Dome and Luther, as well as anthology series like American Horror Story.

And, based on the premise of this franchise, the post-apocalyptic, horror, and drama parts of the description all make perfect sense! It will be thrilling to see more zombies, near-death experiences, and groups of survivors fighting for their lives.

9 It Premieres On April 12

Like the other two TV shows from this franchise, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will also come on AMC, and its premiere date is April 12, 2020.

It was first announced in the summer of 2018, at San Diego Comic-Con by Scott Gimple, who is a writer and producer who has worked on series like FlashForward and The Walking Dead. He and Matthew Negrete are the creators of this upcoming work, and they serve as executive producers, along with Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, and Brian Bockrath.

8 It Is Coming From The TWD Team

Scott Gimple and Matthew Negrete created The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Negrete, is the showrunner, meaning he is the leading producer.

On The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont, Glen Mazzara, Angela Kang, and Gimple have served as showrunners, as have Dave Erickson, Andrew Chambliss, and Ian Goldberg on Fear the Walking Dead. These previous shows have both been successful, and it is exciting that some well-known names will be giving the world this next story of this popular franchise.

7 It Is A Spin-Off

Fear The Walking Dead is a companion and a prequel to The Walking Dead; it focuses on a different group of people, but a familiar face, Morgan Jones, did show up and meet these characters.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is a spin-off to The Walking Dead. Will more familiar faces be seen? Will there be references to TWD? Only time will tell when it comes to this third series of the franchise.

6 It Was Going To Be Called Monument

Here is a little history and some information on the development of this new series: It was announced in July of 2018. It was given 10 episodes in April of 2019. It was then given a working title, which was Monument, but then Scott Gimple told everyone the real title in November of 2019.

This show will have two seasons, each with 10 episodes in them… and then that is it. It will be over after that. That definitely sounds a little different, when compared to the ongoing seasons of TWD!

5 It Was Filmed In Virginia

Last summer, The Walking Dead: World Beyond started filming in Virginia, in places such as Hopewell and Richmond. According to ComicBook.com, a huge plane crash, like the one in LOST, was part of the filming process, and, in order to capture the shot, production shut down streets and had a fuselage on set.

This series will be set in Nebraska, though, while TWD filmed in and is set in Georgia, and Fear The Walking Dead has filmed in LA, Canada, Mexico, and Central Texas, and it is set in LA and Mexico.

4 It Is Set 10 Years After The Apocalypse

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will take place 10 years after the zombie apocalypse started. As mentioned, it will also take place in the state of Nebraska, and it will focus on two young female protagonists.

The premise is that the featured characters will be the apocalypse’s first coming-of-age generation. Like all good and dramatic shows, there will be heroes, there will be villains, and there will be transformations that both good and bad.

3 It Will Star Some Familiar Faces

James Martin Kelly (seen in movies such as The Hangover and Jack Reacher) will portray Uncle Carlo. Christina Marie Karis (seen in series such as Mad About You and This Is Us) will portray Kari Bennett. And Zach Ball, who was part of the Saviors in The Walking Dead, will be one of the survivors.

1 It Will Start With An Episode Called “Brave”

The Walking Dead World Beyond 10 Things We Know So Far

The first episode of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which will air on April 12, 2020, is going to be titled “Brave." Furthermore, it will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed Kong: Skull Island from 2017, as well as some episodes of Funny or Die Presents, to name a few.

Based on what is known about this franchise and about this new story, in particular, “Brave” sounds like the perfect beginning; it is full of possibilities, and viewers can’t wait to see new characters fight for survival in this world!
