Cynthiana, Kentucky is about to bring "The Walking Dead" to life. The town -- which is creator Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore's hometown -- is launching a free celebration in order to honor the hit series, as well as Kirkman and Moore themselves.

Taking place on Saturday, August 6, "The Walking Dead" Day will run from 10am to 6pm. Kirkman and Moore will be available to sign comics, and Kirkman will take part in a Q&A session with fans.

A limited edition variant of "The Walking Dead" #1 will be available for free, though there are only 10,000 copies total. The celebration also includes a costume contest, trivia contest and silent auction, among other events.

Several events will also take place on Friday night, including a golf scramble, party before the apocalypse and zombie paintball shootout.

Last month, the town of Cynthiana also commissioned a wall mural by Portuguese artist Sergio Odeith to honor Moore and Kirkman. The mural depicts characters from both the comic series and the television show, including Rick Grimes, Carl Grimes, Michonne and Daryl Dixon.

"The Walking Dead" Day is a one-day event that will take place Saturday, August 6 from 10am to 6pm in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
