When Tom Payne left The Walking Dead, he made sure that everyone knew he was happy to depart the show. Now, he is letting everyone know what AMC missed out on when it came to the character of Jesus.

Payne posted to Twitter two comic book panels to show what could have been if AMC had given a little more time to his character on the series. The panels show Aaron telling Jesus he had him covered while Jesus let him know "I got you" as well.

Jesus is one of the most popular characters in The Walking Dead comic books. When he first appeared on the television series, he gave Rick and Daryl more than they could handle and soon became a huge part of their defensive unit at The Hilltop.

He was also one of the comic book's LGBTQ characters. At the same time, the TV show worked hard to show the relationship between its two main LGBTQ characters in Aaron and Eric, the couple who took in Daryl and became fan-favorites on the series until Eric's death broke Aaron's heart.

When Jesus died at the hands of The Whisperers, it was shocking since he is still alive in the comic books. Of course, Carl is still alive there as well, so anything goes when it comes to the television storyline. In an interview, Payne said that he was "cool" with dying on the show because his character never got to do as much as he expected when he signed on for the role.

While that was originally believed to be his comic book butt-kicking ways, it appears there are also some ships that could have been and now it is up to fan fiction to fill in those blanks.

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for its 10th season on AMC in October.
