Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Employs a New Storytelling Approach

Fear the Walking Dead EPs Scott M. Gimple and Ian Goldberg revealed how the show's Season 6 approach separates it from the rest of the TWD universe.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Employs a New Storytelling Approach

AMC's Fear the Walking Dead will employ an anthology storytelling structure for Season 6. During the show's ComicCon@Home panel, executive producer Ian Goldberg revealed this season will involve connected anthology episodes.

"The other thing we're really excited about is that we're going to do an anthology structure to the episodes, where we get to deep dive into exactly what these characters are going through within Virginia's communities, in the style of some of the episodes we've done in the past that we love," Goldberg explained. "Like John Dorie and Laura in Season 4, or Alicia and Charlie in the house in episode 4.10. You're going to see a lot more of that kind of storytelling in Season 6."

"The format is going to be very, very usual to the universe," executive producer Scott M. Gimple added. "We're going to have these 16 little movies that all sort of fold into each other. It's the only show that's doing it right now."

As such, it appears the show is still aiming to complete 16 episodes for Season 6. After principal photography was put on hold this March due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there has no been announcement on when filming is planned to resume.

Premiering Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC, Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 is executive produced by Scott M.Gimple and showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, as well as Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd and Greg Nicotero. The series stars Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo and more.
