Despite Ratings Slip The Walking Dead is Still No 1
Although the AMC drama has lost some of its audience in Season Seven, it remains a television monster in the key ratings demographic.
"The Walking Dead" may have experienced a dip in the ratings for its midseason finale, but zombie drama remains a monster hit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, even with the nearly 20 percent decline in viewers from the previous season's winter finale, the AMC series is far and away still the No. 1 television show among adults 18 to 49: Live-plus-three day averages reveal "The Walking Dead" to be attracting 16.1 million viewers per episode in its seventh season, for an 8.3 rating in the key demo.
Taking into account total viewership, the drama closes out the year as the third most-watched show on TV, behind only CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" and "NCIS."
A ratings juggernaut since its 2010 premiere, "The Walking Dead" entered its seventh season with a near series-high 17 million viewers tuning in to learn who would die at the hands of Negan and his bat Lucille. However, in the aftermath of that divisive ratings began a steady decline, reaching a series-low 10.4 million viewers on Nov. 27.

However, the series experienced a slight uptick in its final two episodes before the winter hiatus, with the audience for Dec. 11's "Hearts Still Beating" climbing to 15.2 million viewers, and a 7.5 rating, once three days of DVR viewing were taken into account.
Starring Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs, Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan and Danai Gurira, "The Walking Dead" returns Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
