AMC has finally given an official title to its expanded family of The Walking Dead TV shows and movies. Even as the comic book series of the same name came to an end this year, it looks like this is just the beginning for its live-action counterpart.

Posting on Twitter, AMC's official account for The Walking Dead confirmed the title as "The Walking Dead Universe." The tweet also reminded fans that there will be plenty of news coming up at New York Comic Con on October 5.

AMC has been using the term (albeit inconsistently) since 2018. Sometimes the "Universe" has been capitalized and other times not, but now, there's solid confirmation of "The Walking Dead Universe." Just like Disney has the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Warner Bros. has the DC Expanded Universe, AMC is weaving its own web of interconnected stories.

Since Frank Darabont first brought Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's idea to life in 2010, The Walking Dead has grown to be something of a ratings giant. Later seasons have continued adapting stories from the Kirkman and Charlie Adlard years, but in 2015 The Walking Dead was joined by prequel series Fear The Walking Dead. As both shows continue to be a hit for AMC, there's also a third untitled series in the works.

The Walking Dead Universe also features a number of web series based on The Walking Dead and ongoing plans for a trilogy of Rick Grimes-centric movies with Andrew Lincoln back in a leading role. AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan said last year that he foresees another decade of shows based in The Walking Dead Universe.

AMC's The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for Season 10 on Oct. 6.
