A 9YearOld Girl Knows How The Walking Deads Zombie Apocalypse Began
Robert Kirkman has always had an origin in mind, but no plans to ever reveal it to anyone - except one particular child.

there has been one single question lingering in the minds of fans of robert kirkman's the walking dead franchise since its inception: just how did the zombie apocalypse begin, anyway? at comic-con international in san diego on saturday, kirkman himself revealed that, besides himself, there is one person who knows the answer to that longstanding question.
that person is kirkman's own nine-year-old daughter.
at saturday's spotlight on robert kirkman panel, the writer told the audience that he had no intention of ever revealing the origins of the world-ending event that serves as the backdrop for the franchise. kirkman nonetheless has an origin formulated in his head, and revealed it to his daughter on the condition that she never share it with anyone. but, will his daughter keep her promise?

"she said yes," kirkman told the crowd, "and i could tell she was lying, but she's nine, so maybe she'll forget."
the closest thing to such a reveal that fans have seen were the early episodes of amc's fear the walking dead, which kicked off shortly after the beginning of the zombie infestation. the show stopped short of actually explaining how it started, however.
if the franchise's popularity persists, kirkman's daughter stands to face several years of fans pestering her, hoping for her to break her promise to father and reveal the answer.
