The Walking Dead 10 Disturbing Storylines We Wish We Could Forget
A show like The Walking Dead, with its blood, guts, cannibals, and zombies, has some disturbing imagery and plot lines. We look at the most chilling.

AMC's The Walking Dead has had some seriously gory scenes with walkers who have been burned or submerged in water for months. And we can't forget about the hanging body parts hanging, removed jaws – you name it. But alongside the terrifying walker scenes, there have also been some involving humans. The situation can get dire when the only instinct you have left is survival.
There have been a few storylines on the apocalyptic drama that have been truly disturbing, even for the most steel-stomached of viewers.
10 Lori and Shane's Relationship

Just as the apocalypse begun and Rick was stuck in a coma in a hospital that was overrun by walkers, his wife Lori, son Carl, and best friend and partner on the police force Shane managed to escape. Great of his friend to save his family.
Except later, believing Rick was dead, Shane and Lori sparked up a relationship. They stole kisses and snuck away from the group to have intimate relations. In fact, it is almost a certainty that Judith is Shane's biological daughter, not Rick's. Regardless, Rick is her father. It was a disturbing storyline, nonetheless.
9 Lori Having to Give Birth

Remember way back when Lori was pregnant with Judith? The whole storyline was disturbing to think that someone would be bringing a baby into this world at the onset of the apocalypse. But most disturbing was how the birth went down.
Stress caused Lori to go into labor early. As she started to push and blood leaked out, Maggie, who has some medical experience working with animals, realized they had to do a C-section but that Lori wouldn't survive it. Lori made the difficult decision to give up her life for her child's. Then, to make matters worse, a young Carl shoots Lori in the head so she doesn't reanimate.
8 Look At The Flowers

The whole storyline with Lizzie was very disturbing, not only because the series was addressing living with mental illness in an apocalypse, but also that it was doing so with a child. And the ending was the most disturbing of all.
As Carol and Tyreese continued to realize how mentally unstable Lizzie was, things came to a head when she killed her little sister in an effort to prove that walkers were alive and no different than humans. Fearing that she was a danger to others, including baby Judith, Carol made the tough decision to take Lizzie out to the garden and execute her.
7 Sophia's Disappearance

Carol's young daughter Sophia was shy and quiet, so when she got separated from the group after a walker attack and went running into the woods, it is was a terrifying situation for all involved. Much of the season focused on the group's search for her. Daryl would go out looking, Carol was distraught, and everyone did what they could to help find her.
The ending to this storyline was one of the most disturbing of the series to date. When Shane angrily let out all of the walkers Hershel had been keeping out in the barn, believing he could eventually save them when a cure was found, a reanimated Sophia came out last, bringing Carol to her knees.
6 Noah's Death

Most disturbing about Noah's storyline was how it ended. He first befriended Beth when she was being held in the hospital with other survivors. He worked with her to try and plan an escape, and while she ended up getting killed, he made it out and joined the group.
But he became a victim of the Glenn and Nicholas storyline (which later led to that pivotal dumpster scene where everyone thought Glenn was dead) and got stuck in a revolving door. With Glenn desperate to save him but unable to, he watched as walkers tore Noah's face off.
5 The Governor

The Governor himself was disturbing but became even more so when we discovered that he held his reanimated young daughter in captivity, chained up so he could still talk to and interact with "her," and decorated his office with severed heads in a tank.
He was a sociopath who beheaded an innocent Hershel in front of his daughters. The Governor's entire storyline was drawn out, with each revelation about him getting more and more disturbing. He was a charming cult leader who could get people to follow him and do heinous things that they believed were for the greater good.
4 Negan's Death Line-up

Another storyline that dragged on and was really disturbing was Negan's death line-up. After our group entered one of his outposts in the middle of the night and killed many of his members while they were sleeping, he wanted to retaliate.
He captured everyone, lined them up in a semi-circle on their knees, and walked back and forth, chatting with them and deciding which one of them would become the sacrificial lamb and intimately meet his barbed wire bat, Lucille. It was back and forth, "eeny meeny miny mo” before it ended in terror when both Abraham and Glenn had their skulls bashed in.
3 Daryl And The Claimed Gang

It was a very short storyline from the fourth season but one that was pretty disturbing. When out on his own, Daryl came across a violent group of survivors known as the Claimers. They lived by one set of rules: when someone claimed something as theirs, it was theirs. This would not only apply to inanimate objects but also women, whom they often abused. Break the rules and you would be beaten to death.
After they captured Rick, Carl, and Michonne, and the leader Joe told Rick they would rape both Michonne and Carl before killing them, that was enough to set Rick off. He head-butted him then savagely bit him in the throat, ripping into his flesh like it was a chicken breast.
2 The Cannibals and Terminus

The storyline with Terminus, a group who collected people, fattened them up, killed and ate them, was stomach-turning. Rick and his group were collected in a van awaiting to become BBQ meat. We later saw more of Terminus, including an assembly line where people had their throats slit and blood drained before they were cut up, cooked, and fed to the people on a silver platter.
A particularly disturbing storyline from this group was Gareth and his friends, who amputated Bob's leg and cooked it over a fire in front of him. Bob got the last laugh when he revealed that he had been bitten and they were eating tainted meat.
1 Shiva's Fate

Shiva's storyline was disturbing because of its end. Ezekiel's faithful tiger sat by his side, protecting him and keeping others away from the Kingdom. Wherever they went, Shiva was there to help.
Shiva went on to save Carl's life, and terrified Negan when he realized that Ezekiel had a tiger and he wasn't afraid to use it. Sadly, after many of the people of the Kingdom were slaughtered, Shiva jumped out to save his group but ended up attracting the attention of a hoard of walkers who took the tiger down. Shiva's final heroic act was allowing Ezekiel, Carol, and Jerry to escape.
