Killing off Alicia would be a major risk for Fear The Walking Dead. Alicia's arc has currently been left in a grim predicament in the mid-season finale of season 7. If this arc ultimately ends in her death, it could permanently doom the series.
For almost three and a half seasons, Alicia is the sole remaining member of the Clark family in Fear The Walking Dead. This makes her a rather important character in the series. That being said, while not shifted to the background, some would argue she hasn't received the proper treatment as a protagonist in the way Morgan has come his arrival to the series. In season 7's "Padre," after being absent for nearly the entire first half, it's revealed she has been bitten and that she is still suffering from a fever even after amputation.
Fear The Walking Dead would be making a huge mistake if the fever does end up resulting in Alicia's death. Not only because of the outrage over Nick and (for a time) Madison's deaths, but because doing so would hurt the latter's highly anticipated return. And as The Walking Dead proves, there are other ways to write a character out without killing them should an actor choose to leave.

Now that Madison is making her long-awaited return in Fear The Walking Dead, the show could easily ruin the moment if Alicia dies around the exact same time. While they could reunite before that happens, this robs the chance of the mother and daughter leading the series together (possibly alongside Morgan,) which would be incredibly poignant following the death of Fear's Nick. If Alicia dies, it'll be a wasted opportunity that renders Madison's return pointless.
In its recent seasons, The Walking Dead proves that, should Alycia Debnam-Carey choose to leave, Fear The Walking Dead can write Alicia off the show without having to kill her off. Following Carl's death and the massive uproar it caused, the original series has been careful about which characters it chooses to kill off. As such, when Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira chose to leave, the writers found a way to send Rick and Michonne off without killing them. The writers on Fear can do the same thing for Alicia, thus leaving the door open for a possible return like Lauren Cohan did as Maggie.
Ultimately, it's still unclear whether Alicia will die from her fever in Fear The Walking Dead. However, given the Walking Dead franchise's long history of death fake-outs (Madison now being the latest,) it seems that her predicament will follow a similar route. In the end, killing Alicia off at this stage in the series after everything she's been through is a risk that Fear The Walking Dead just cannot afford.
