WARNING: Spoilers from Season 6, Episode 8 of Fear the Walking Dead, "The Door."
Fear the Walking Dead memorialized John Dorie with a moving video tribute following the unexpected death of the fan-favorite character in the Season 6 midseason premiere earlier this month.
Posted on Twitter, the two-and-a-half minute videos shows some of the best moments from actor Garret Dillahunt's portrayal of Dorie across five and a half seasons. Highlights include the former police officer showing off his sharp-shooting skills while fending off walkers, his first meeting with wife June and Dorie explaining the inspiration behind his infamous catchphrase, "That is some ugly mustard."

The video featured the caption, "R.I.P. John Dorie. Thank you, @garretdillahunt. #FearTWD."
In the final minutes of Fear the Walking Dead's Season 6 midseason premiere, "The Door," John Dorie learned that Dakota had murdered Cameron (Noah Khyle) earlier in the season. In order to keep her secret, Dakota shot Dorie in the chest and pushed him off a bridge. While Dorie initially appeared to have survived the attack, fans soon learned that the Dorie who washed up on shore was actually a walker. In a heartbreaking conclusion, Dorie's new wife June was forced to put him down.
Following the episode airing on AMC, showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss revealed they wanted fans to experience true mourning. Specifically, Goldberg confirmed that they "wanted to break people's hearts, and we wanted to make it feel as though he might just be able to come out of this."
He continued, "So that when he doesn't, and June is faced with the unthinkable of seeing the person she loves as a walker on the shores of the cabin, it was just, I mean, honestly, it felt like the most heartbreaking ending imaginable for both of those characters."
Chambliss also recently revealed on an episode of Talking Dead that they always had Dillahunt in mind to portray Dorie. "There was never any other consideration from the beginning. In fact, before we named him 'John Dorie,' he was just called 'Garret Dillahunt,'" he explained, as reported by ComicBook.com. "Garret is such a phenomenal actor, he brings such an incredible balance of humor and danger, which is a rare combination. You just never know what you're gonna get with him."
Fear the Walking Dead stars Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Maggie Grace, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Austin Amelio, Mo Collins, Alexa Nisenson, Karen David, Colby Hollman, Zoe Colletti, Jenna Elfman and Rubén Blades. New episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
