Premiering a few weeks before the 100th episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, Adult Swim's now-longest running show had its anticipated special episode spoofing the popular zombie show. Titled "The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who's Walking," Robot Chicken poked fun at as many storylines, narrative choices, and characters - dead or alive - as possible while also showing the creators' real love for The Walking Dead.

Clocking in at only 22-minutes with the signature Robot Chicken stop-motion animation, the special is filled with a star-studded cast, hilarious references, and plenty of easter eggs and homages that are easy to miss.

10 The 10th Robot Chicken Special

Since Robot Chicken's debut in 2005, there have been several special episodes for popular characters and holidays within the seasons, like the B----- Pudding special or the various smaller Christmas and Santa Claus specials. However, Robot Chicken has had several themed Specials throughout the series, including three different Star Wars Specials, DC Comics Specials, and Christmas Specials. And when it premiered on October 8, 2017, "The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who's Walking" became the 10th Robot Chicken Special.

9 Actual Walking Dead Actors Lend Their Voices And Make Light Of Their Dark TV Show

What makes the Walking Dead Special so great is that so many of the actual actors from The Walking Dead provided their voices for their stop-motion counterparts. Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Chandler Riggs, Jon Bernthal, Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, and so many others bring some lighthearted and sometimes outrageous humor to the oftentimes depressing Walking Dead. Showrunners and producers Scott M. Gimple and Robert Kirkman even play themselves in the special.

8 Harry Potter Provides The Voice Of The Terminus Leader, Gareth

While most of the cast from The Walking Dead lent their voices to the Robot Chicken special, some of the actors were double-billed. Norman Reedus voiced both Daryl and Dale, Melissa McBride was Carol and Andrea, and Steven Yeun voiced Glenn pre- and post-Lucille as well as Glenn and Maggie's baby in a hilarious segment.

The only big-time actor outside of the AMC show to voice a character was Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe as Gareth, leader of the Terminus cannibals in a musical number.

7 Slyly Referenced Dale And Andrea's Relationship In The Comics

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

One of the many segments in the Walking Dead Special harkens back to the show's early episodes where Dale and Andrea were still alive and companions. In the segment, Dale is fantasizing about his life as he's being ripped apart by walkers. Part of that fantasy is an allusion to Dale and Andrea actually hooking up, which never happened in the television show. However, this is likely a reference to The Walking Dead comics, where the characters did have a relationship until Dale's death.

6 Several Homages To George A. Romero, The Godfather Of Zombie Movies

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

A few of the segments throughout the special focus on the walkers having some intelligence or sentience. It's mostly absent from The Walking Dead show but was often explored throughout Romero's zombie films, particularly 1985's Day of the Dead and 2005's Land of the Dead. From the female walker "singing" a duet with Merle to Nicholas, Glenn, and Noah keeping a walker from getting to work on time. Funnily enough, Robot Chicken's outro music is from Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

5 Wind Tunnel! An Homage To Another Popular Show On Adult Swim

Throughout the special, there's a running joke that parodies the relationship between Negan and Carl, particularly with Negan's interest in Carl's missing eye. Not only does Negan use Carl's eye hole to practice his golf putt, but there's also a bit that's most likely an homage to Inuyasha, an anime that often played on Adult Swim and Toonami. When Carl takes the covering off of his eye hole, a powerful wind like Miroku's Wind Tunnel from Inuyasha begins to pull in Lucille and Negan.

4 Seth Green Fought To Be The Voice Of Rick Grimes

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

Of course, it wouldn't be Robot Chicken without the show's co-creator Seth Green's voice-over talents. Even with a stacked The Walking Dead cast, he still managed to work his unique voice into the special. Green voiced The Nerd, Lennie Small, Snoopy, the Museum Guide, a walker, Dr. Edwin Jenner, Noah, and one more character. However, Green could have been Rick's voice if the show wasn't able to get the original actors, a role that he initially fought writer Breckin Meyer over.

3 A Throwback To That Time Everyone Really Hated Carl Grimes

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

While Carl Grime's death in season 8 was controversial, it wasn't that long ago that there were weekly hashtags to #KillCarl. This was a popular opinion among The Walking Dead fans during the earlier seasons as Carl's character was perceived to be annoying and a liability.

The Robot Chicken special makes a great homage to this when Rick and Glenn are covered in walker's guts to camouflage themselves while Carl uses them for dancing puppets, prompting Rick to yell, "Goddammit, Carl!"

2 Negan Needs To Go Back To Music Class After Threatening Daryl

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

There's a segment lifted from season 7 that Negan spoofs as he threatens Daryl to sing a note instead of saying his name. What's funny is that Negan doesn't seem to know his musical notes: Daryl sings a G natural, causing Negan to get angry, telling him to sing an A. Daryl sings an A, which moves to an A sharp. However, Negan mishears the note and then demonstrates the "A" he wants Daryl to do, but then actually sings an E. Oops.

1 The Beginning Of The Special Is Similar To The Last Comic, Released Two Years Later

10 Things You Missed In The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special

The special opens with The Nerd visiting a museum about the events in The Walking Dead as if there really was a zombie apocalypse, but most of the zombies are now gone. The Nerd runs into a much older Carl Grimes who tells him how everything really happened. What's interesting about this opener is that it actually is pretty close to what happens two years later with the comic's end, where walkers are no longer seen as a major threat.
